Jennifer Paige All-Stars, Vol. 1
Welcome to the inaugural volume of the Jennifer Paige All-Stars, a post dedicated to detailing my latest crushes. I don’t get crushes all that often and, yes, some of these people have been tugging at my heart for a while. It is time, however, for a little recognition. They make my life better in ways they do not know. In the future I hope to focus on one crush and give a more detailed profile on their particular brand of awesome.
See that portly fellow in the background? His name is Mike Martz. His nickname is The Mad Scientist. Why? Because he is an offensive football genius. He is the man responsible for taking a team that is 24-72 (.250) over the past six years and making them exciting and relevant again. The Detroit Freaking Lions are 4-2 in 2007.
Typically Mike likes to stand on the sidelines, similar to the way he is here, and look disinterested in the activities on the field. At press conferences he speaks matter-of-factly, believing wholeheartedly in his scheme despite naysayers. Mike, it might be too early to say this, but I think I love you.
Can a crush be timeless? Apparently so.
For a long time I wondered if Erin Andrews was just a bimbo employed by ESPN in an attempt to keep me interested in another meaningless game. Then I listened to her on a podcast a month ago (9/20/07) . I decided, at the very least, she has a brain. She talks coherently about the double standards she faces as an attractive woman trying to be taken seriously in a man’s world. She realizes that there are times when it is interesting to hear her present a story and others where people simply want to watch a game. I came away moderately impressed.
This fine gentleman is the nameless logo for Bagel Bagel Cafe. He makes me smile. He has been hanging on the outside of my bedroom door for about a year and a half because when I look at him I think “everything’s good, man.” He is probably the most underappreciated, underutilized mascot in the history of the world. Can anyone look at this guy and not instantly relax or want to buy a Spinach TBCC? I say no. The fact that he is nameless is a travesty of epic proportion.

Erin Andrews is a UF grad so her intelligence is naturally higher than most. Its easy to see why many cannot see past her good looks, but I am one of the few single football watching men who truly appreciates her for her wit and intellect. Erin, if you read this blog please call me…soon.
