i want to hate cowherd, but i’ve got to be honest, i enjoy listening to him. i guess you can hate someone and still listen to them, but i dont really hate him. i find him funny at times, abhorrent at times, and entertaining almost all the time. don’t know if i can say the same for everyone else.

ESPNRadio mostly sucks right now. When they had Tony K leading into Dan Patrick leading into Eric Kuselias, that was a murderer’s row. Tirico hasnt grown on me yet, and I’d rather give myself a vasectomy than listen to Seibel and Orestes on the drive home. terrible.

I used to like Cowherd. When I first started listening to him I thought, hey, here’s a guy with some opinions about life, not sports, that are pretty accurate. Then I realized he has an opinion about nearly everything and each one is “the way it is” with no room for discussion. The self-righteousness wears on me big time. He allows callers, but then shouts down the ones who disagree before hanging up with them.

    Plus, he hates bloggers.

Stick with Mike Tirico. He’s an Ann Arbor native so I’m partial. When I was in Detroit, he used to call my favorite show once a week for a couple years until ESPN made him stop. (It was a non-ESPN station.) Solid gold. He’s really self-deprecating and humble. My cousin met him in a hotel gym in 2007 and didn’t know who he was at first, but said he was the nicest, most normal guy (which I expected). He talked to her about sports and all sorts of stuff, but never acted like he was someone important. I also enjoy his flexibility as a play-by-play guy. He’s done a heck of a lot for MNF and ESPN’s NBA coverage.
