Six quirks about me
Bryan Allain of Prayers for Blowouts fame (amongst other things, like having a wife and children) tagged me in a blog-post-chain-thingy that asks you to reveal six quirks about yourself and to ask six others to do the same. If this were an e-mail chain, I’d shake my head disapprovingly, but I think this one is actually pretty cool.
The Rules:
1) Link to the person that tagged you.
2) Post the rules on your blog.
3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
Six Non-important habits/quirks about me:
1) I do everything right-handed except eat, brush my teeth, and play guitar (if I actually could). Legend has it that these habits evolved from either a) breaking my right wrist in first grade or b) copying everything my older, left-handed brother Ryan did as a child (it’s something the family likes to believe). I do not deny a period of copying everything Ryan did, including eating the same breakfast cereal every morning, but I honestly have no idea which is responsible.
I also remember having to learn to write left-handed while in the cast and abhorring my teacher for making me go back to my dominant hand after the painstaking task of learning to write left-handed. (I hated handwriting. You cannot explain the usefulness of such harsh punishments to a six year-old.) I may have stayed lefty for these tasks due to nobody caring which I performed them with.
There has been some benefit to doing a couple things lefty my entire life. I find it useful for motor skills that require a little finesse.
2) I am on a lifelong quest to find the perfect pair of jeans. I have unnecessarily large quads that make very few fit correctly. I don’t go shopping for jeans specifically, simply because they last so long, but if I’m in a store and randomly find a pair that fits somewhat well I always buy it. Nine times out of ten I am laughing at myself in the fitting room by the time I am ready to secure them. Big quads make the fit for every part above the quad, umm, an adventure. You know what I’m sayin’.
3) I value the lyrics of songs much more than the average Joe. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate what is going on instrumentally, but I am astounded by the volume of people who “love” songs and don’t have the faintest idea what is being said other than three words from the hook.
4) I’d pay a hefty sum to be able to watch all football from the endzone point of view. It is impossible to see any of the strategy going on downfield with the camera locked in on the QB.
5) I have a vice for Brooks Brothers ties and polos. Every man should own at least one BB tie, preferably ten.
6) I group all of my groceries by type (freezer, refrigerator, room temp, toiletries) when I put them on the belt at the store. You have time to do this while you’re putting them up there, no? Yes, yes you do. If the bagger catches on, it saves the time of sorting everything out in the unbagging process at home.
Finally, I don’t have six friends with blogs so I guess the chain stops here. I only have a couple ![]()

You should visit more blogs. Then you could do a study about how blog memes like this one morph (I just saw this on a friend’s blog, only in her version, it was seven things). It would be boring, but you could . . .
Or you could just tag, for example, everyone in the Burnside Writer’s blog, and they could each do their own–all in the same blog.

Interesting that you do a few things left handed and everything right handed. My niece writes with her left hand and does everything else with her right. A friend eats, writes etc with his left but plays sport with his right. I do virtually everything with my left hand except I use a knife and fork together as a right handed person would. You can try my simple test here, to see how left or right handed you are: http://www.thelefthandedsite.com/articles/how_left_handed_are_you
